The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, or "CARES Act," signed into law on March 27, 2020, provides for $349 billion in Small Business Administration (SBA) loan guarantees and subsidies, and additional funding for SBA programs. One new SBA program created by the CARES Act is the Paycheck Protection Program (the "PPP"). The PPP has the potential to provide significant relief for small businesses, but that relief requires application to the program. To address some of the uncertainty about the regulatory context and details of implementation, and to assist with the application process, the UGA School of Law's Business Law Clinic will host a Paycheck Protection Program Pop-up Legal Clinic with lawyers from the Athens law firm Fortson, Bentley and Griffin.

This clinic will take place via video conference on Zoom, and will begin with a 20-30 minute presentation of practical information about the PPP, addressed both to businesses who have already applied and are hoping for additional clarity, and to businesses that are still planning to apply. A general Q&A period will follow. We will then conduct a limited number of brief one-on-one consultations, as further described in the form linked below.

The Business Law Clinic is open to small businesses located in and around Athens, GA, and there is no charge for participation. Group presentation and individual consultations will be capped, and we apologize in advance if we are unable to speak with you.
