Congratulations to the Community Health Law Partnership (HeLP) Clinic for assisting two clients from Egypt with their citizenship cases. Third-year student Sarah A. Mirza and Onur Yildirim (J.D.'18) helped prepare the initial applications last year. Third-year student Amy E. Buice and second-year student William D. Ortiz worked to prepare the pair for their naturalization interviews and attended the naturalization ceremony in 2019. The cases were supervised by clinic Director and Associate Professor Jason A. Cade.
Congratulations to first-year law student Mollie Fiero for winning the 2019 Richard B. Russell Moot Court Competition and to finalist Jason Sigalos and all of the first-year law students who made this year's tournament such a success. Fiero also received the Jere W. Morehead Moot Court Award.
Assistant Professor Jonathan Peters was featured in The Washington Post regarding his thoughts on whether Julian Assange is a journalist. The article titled "The Assange indictment is thin gruel" was written by Erik Wemple and published 4/11/14.
Congratulations to second-year student Joseph H. "Joe" Stuhrenberg who was named best oralist at the 34th Annual Dean Jerome Prince Memorial Evidence Competition. The team, consisting of Stuhrenberg and fellow second-year students Amber D. Greenaway and Adeline B. Kenerly finished the competition as national semifinalists. Notably this is the first time a UGA student has been recognized as best oralist at this tournament. Third-year student Alexander "Alex" Weathersby served as coach.
Congratulations to third-year student Stephen Mulherin and second-year students Haley J. Hudler, Amelia C. Stevens and John Lex Kenerly IV for finishing the Eighth Annual South Texas Mock Trial Challenge as national quarterfinalists.
