Justice Thomas O. Marshall Chair of Constitutional Law -

The purpose of the Fund is to provide supplemental salary support and requisite fringe benefits, research or teaching assistance needed, but not otherwise available to the Chair; and to cover professional travel expenses, memberships, and other expenses that enhance the effectiveness of the Chair beyond those ordinarily provided by the University. The Chair shall pay for any expenditures in connection with the mission of the Chair including any costs related to outreach or service programs.

If the entire income generated by the Fund is not needed for the purpose as stated herein, the residual amount may be used to provide support of the Justice Thomas 0. Marshall Scholarships. The scholarships would be offered to students in their first year of law school and remain with them throughout their law school education. Preference should be given for students with substantial connections first to Americus, Sumter County or the other communities of southwest Georgia with secondary preference for the counties of Colquitt, Crisp, Dooly, Lee, Macon, Marion, Schley, Terrell, and Webster.
