Congratulations to third-year student M. Drake Jones and second-year student Dresden L. Day for winning Region VI of the National Trial Competition. They will represent UGA at the national tier of the competition to be held in April. Jones and Day’s victory also marks the fourth consecutive year that UGA has won this regional competition. The team was coached by Jeremy Dailey (J.D.’14), Haley Kairab (J.D.’22) and Cole Harper (J.D.’22).

The Appellate Litigation Clinic argued Holley v. Combs before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in January. Third-year student Zachary D. Poppe presented the oral argument while third-year student Taylor L. Stablein helped write the briefs and prepare the argument.

Congratulations to third-year students Mona E. Abboud, Taylor L. Stablein and Casey E. Wofford for finishing as semifinalists at the National Moot Court Competition in New York City, finishing among the top four teams in the nation. The team also earned honors for having the second-best brief score out of 32 teams. Notably, Abboud, Stablein and Wofford went undefeated in their regional in Atlanta in November to qualify for the national tier of the tournament.

Congratulations to Assistant Professor Meighan Parker on being selected for the University of Georgia Rural Engagement Workshop 2025 cohort. The program, which is limited to no more than 20 faculty members, supports collaborative research benefiting rural Georgia. Parker’s project will center around partnering with rural Black churches to establish telehealth spaces on church campuses to address possible healthcare gaps in their communities and legal hurdles related to these partnerships.
