The First Amendment Clinic recently argued Sullivan v. Prospero before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Third-year student E. Grace Lane and Clinical Associate Professor & First Amendment Clinic Director Clare R. Norins presented the case while former Legal Fellow Allyson Veile assisted with writing the brief.

Stembler Family Distinguished Professor in Business Law Christopher M. Bruner presented “Potential for Stakeholder Corporate Governance in the United States” as part of an online seminar titled “Stakeholder Approach and Corporate Governance Evolution” hosted by Université Rennes 2 in France and Roskilde Universitet in Denmark during March.

The School of Law recently bestowed the Distinguished Service Scroll Award, the Law School Association’s highest honor, on former School of Law Dean Peter B. “Bo” Rutledge and 1989 graduate Yvette K. Daniels for their outstanding dedication and service to the legal profession and the law school. Additionally, Carson M. Alexander was presented with the Young Alumni/Alumnae of Excellence Award.

The Land Conservation Clinic recently visited a 223-acre property protected by a conservation easement to learn about the landowner’s innovative efforts to protect the site and enhance biodiversity. The site, which features an important tributary to the Oconee River, gave students an opportunity to observe the impact of a conservation easement.

Distinguished Research Professor & Shackelford Distinguished Professor in Taxation Law Emeritus Walter Hellerstein's treatise State Taxation was cited by the Illinois First District Appellate Court in Pepsico, Inc. v. Illinois Department of Revenue (March 19, 2025).

Brumby Distinguished Professor in First Amendment Law Sonja R. West presented "Defamation Law in the Digital Age: The Relevancy of New York Times v. Sullivan in the Modern World" as the UGA Terry College of Business Certificate in Legal Studies Lecturer during March.

The Appellate Litigation Clinic recently argued Bilal v. Benoit before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Third-year students Robert A. "Bobby" Bellen and Natalya D. Moody presented the case. Third-year students Anna E. Gowen, Caleb Z. Morris and Anderson B. Scott helped them prepare the argument.

Congratulations to third-year students Olha “Olia” Kaliuzhna and Vladyslav “Vlad” Rudzinskyi for winning the Loyola University of Chicago School of Law Pre-Moot. Law schools from across the United States competed in this “warm up” tournament for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot to be held in Vienna, Austria, during April.
