A free virtual legal webinar for Georgia renters who are worried about eviction and would like to learn more about their rights will take place Thursday, June 24, at noon. Sponsored by the University of Georgia School of Law's Public Interest Practicum and the Georgia Legal Services Program, the webinar will cover tenants' rights, Georgia's rental assistance programs and what will happen when the state's eviction moratorium expires on June 30.

Callaway Chair of Law Emeritus Ronald L. Carlson's book Carlson on Evidence (with M. Carlson) was recently cited by the Georgia Court of Appeals in the cases of Webb v. State and Alvarez-Maldanado v. State. These citations bring the total to 57 times that this text has been used by Georgia appellate courts to resolve evidentiary issues.

Congratulations to third-year student Christopher J. Bertrand for receiving a Clinical Legal Education Association Outstanding Externship Student Award for his "excellence in externship fieldwork" and "exceptionally thoughtful, self-reflective participation in an accompanying externship seminar." Congratulations to 2021 graduate Raneem Ashrawi for receiving an Equal Justice Works Fellowship, which is considered one of the most prestigious and competitive post-graduate legal fellowships in the country. As an EJW Fellow, she will advocate for Georgia youth with behavioral and mental health needs by advancing their access to the preventive care and reasonable accommodations to which they are entitled under federal law.
