For over 40 years, Forward Air Corporation (“Forward”) has grown into a leading ground transportation provider and related shipping services to the North American expedited less than truckload (“LTL”) market. The depth and breadth of our transportation service portfolio continue to grow to meet our customers’ unique shipping needs and includes expedited LTL, LTL, full truckload, intermodal, final mile, and brokerage services. We untangle the complexities of surface shipping for businesses of all sizes, delivering a reliable alternative to air transportation that is accelerated, time-definite, and cost-effective.
Type of work:
Forward’s Legal Department supports our business units with all legal issues and questions, including contract negotiation, mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”), litigation/enterprise risk management, real estate, and corporate compliance. Externs will have projects in contract review/drafting/negotiation, M&A due diligence, litigation as well as a myriad of other legal issues as they arise. Our Legal Department is located in Atlanta, near Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, and we support our operations across the US.
Note: Externship can be hybrid, but at least half-time “in-person work” will be required. See "Preferred days" below. Externs will be asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement.

Prior coursework or other skills/interests: None required – except curiosity!
Number of externs: One (1)
Preferred days: Students are required to be in the office in person on Mondays and Tuesdays for at least six (6) total hours (e.g., 3 hours per day). We recommend students work with us twelve (12) or sixteen (16) hours/week total. In our experience, the more hours an extern works with us, the more mutually beneficial the experience is. We also welcome fulltime externs, if you’re interested.
