University Professor & Kilpatrick Chair of Corporate Finance and Securities Law Usha Rodrigues testified before the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Investor Protection, Entrepreneurship and Capital Markets titled "Going Public: SPACs, Direct Listings, Public Offerings, and the Need for Investor Protections" on 5/24/21. This subcommittee is part of the U.S. House's Committee on Financial Services.

Shackelford Distinguished Professor in Taxation Law Gregg D. Polsky published "Does Tax Matter? Evidence on Executive Compensation After 162(M)'s Repeal" in 26 Stanford Journal of Law, Business & Finance 1 (2021).

Congratulations to Associate Professor Laura Phillips Sawyer, who teaches courses in UGA's Terry College of Business, for receiving the Nourse Outstanding MBA Teacher Award for the MBA elective curriculum. Selected by graduating full-time MBA students, this honor recognizes stimulating classroom instruction, positive interaction with students and overall contribution to the full-time MBA experience.

Sibley Professor in Corporate and Business Law Larry D. Thompson has been elected to the American Law Institute's Council, effective June 9, 2021. The council "determines projects and activities to be undertaken by the ALI and approves the work as representing the position of the institute," which is considered "the leading independent organization in the United States producing scholarly work to clarify, modernize, and otherwise improve the law."

Callaway Chair Elizabeth Chamblee Burch was featured in an Associated Press article regarding opioid litigation. The article titled "Setting the Stage for Thousands of Opioid Lawsuits, Potentially Years of Litigation" was published 5/17/21.
