Distinguished Research Professor & Shackelford Distinguished Professor in Taxation Law Emeritus Walter Hellerstein presented “The Role of Digital Platforms in the Collection of Consumption Taxes in the Digital Economy: Lessons from the U.S. Subnational State Experience” at the University of New South Wales International Workshop on VAT in the Digital Era during November in Sydney, Australia. The paper will be published, along with others presented at the workshop, by the Oxford University Press.
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Hosch Professor Kent Barnett's article "Chevron Abroad" (96 Notre Dame Law Review 621 (2020) (with Lindsey Vinson (J.D.'20)) was cited by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch in his opinion dissenting from denial of certiorari in Buffington v. McDonough.
Interim UGA Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, University Professor & Kilpatrick Chair of Corporate Finance and Securities Law Usha Rodrigues was featured on Bloomberg Law regarding the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and token-based enterprises. The article titled "LBRY Token Ruling Gives SEC Ammunition in Crypto Enforcement" was written by Matthew Bultman and published 11/10/22.
Alston Associate Chair in Corporate Law Lindsey Simon was featured by Reuters regarding her Yale Law Journal "Bankruptcy Grifters" article and her thoughts on bankruptcy protections and mass tort litigation. The article titled "How corporate chiefs dodge lawsuits over sexual abuse and deadly products" was written by Mike Spector, Benjamin Lesser, Disha Raychaudhuri, Dan Levine and Kristina Cooke. It was published 11/7/22. The article was reprinted by publications such as Business World and Insurance Journal.
Professor & Practicum in Animal Welfare Skills Director Lisa Milot was featured on Monroe Local News regarding work performed by PAWS students to update animal control ordinances in Georgia's Walton County. The article titled "Anti-tethering law passes unanimously in Walton County" was written by Sharon Swanepoel and published 11/2/22.
