Panel discussion to raise awareness among law students of environmental justice issues in Georgia and consider the various ways that lawyers, engineers, academics, and other professionals can contribute to grassroots environmental programs. Panelists include Kimberly Scott, Executive Director at Georgia WAND; Suzanne Burnes, Just Growth Portfolio Director at the Partnership for Southern Equity; and Janelle Wright, Environmental Justice Programs Manager at West Atlanta Watershed Alliance.

The Federal Bar Association and the Student Bar Association are collaborating to host an event at LumberJaxe on February 17, 2023, from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. for 25 students at the reduced price of $15.

WHAT IS THRIVE
For 16 years, Parker Poe has hosted a daylong program to help minority students navigate law school, make a successful transition into the practice of law after graduation, and thrive as they pursue the different paths a legal career may take. More than 775 students have attended since the program's inception.

Come hear DA Racine (Douglas County) and Mariah Foote (from the Georgia Conflict Center) speak about restorative justice in Athens, what a career looks like in pursuing restorative justice in their respective spheres, what their work looks like now, and what they hope it will continue to look like both here and for the broader Georgian community (and even the United States).

The presentation will be 45 minutes and discuss both policy development and enforcement of those policies by the Health and Human Services, Office of Civil Rights.
