Office of Grants and Awards

The University of Georgia School of Law Office of Grants and Awards works with law faculty and administrative teams on identifying, applying for, and managing grant proposals and awards. The Office of Grants and Awards' mission is to strengthen the school's research capacity, support faculty and staff at every stage of the grant process and contribute to the capacity of programs administered by the School of Law.

The Office of Grants and Awards at Georgia Law offers the following services:


  • Find funding opportunities
  • Develop budgets
  • Edit grant narratives
  • Oversee proposals for compliance
  • Complete grant application forms
  • Review and submit grant proposals
  • Submit grant materials internal grants controlling offices
  • Provide grant-related resources and educational opportunities to faculty and staff

Post Award:

  • Work with the School of Law Budget Office on managing awardee financial accounts
  • Advise awardees on requests for extensions, re-allocation of funds, and change of scope requests
  • Review and submit annual and final reports when required

Partnerships and Collaborations:

  • Build partnerships with local, state, and national funders of law, policy, and humanities research
  • Connect to other units within the University, including the UGA Office of the Vice President for Research, UGA Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations, and the Office of Law School Advancement.

UGA Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA)
What is it? It is an office within the UGA Research Foundation (UGARF), managed through the Office for the Vice President for Research, and all faculty research awards are administered through this entity. The Office of Grants and Awards will take care of registering your grant applications with UGARF. If you are thinking about applying for a grant, please notify the office immediately so you can get set up with UGARF. There is no other way for you to receive your research grant funds. UGARF asks to be notified of proposal submissions no later than 10 days prior to forwarding your document to the funder.
