Equal Justice Public Interest Law Support - 

The purpose of the Fund is to provide support for the public interest law students within the School of Law (School). Support may include, but not be limited to, stipends for public interest law students, networking opportunities for public interest law students, promotion of public interest law careers, and other expenses as deemed appropriate by the Dean of the School.

 

William Carroll Brown, Jr. Faculty & Student Endowment Fund

William Carroll Brown, Jr. Faculty & Student Endowment Fund -

The primary purpose of the Fund is to provide a unique international learning experience for the students and faculty involved, preferably, but not limited to, educational and governmental institutions including Inns of Court located within the British Commonwealth.

In any year in which the income from the Fund is more than sufficient to meet the primary purpose specified above, the School of Law may use the excess to support the Law School's Moot Court or scholarship programs.  

J. Ralph Beaird Closing Argument Award

The purpose of the Fund is to provide a resource in order to fund student awards for the annual J. Ralph Beaird Closing Argument Competition within the School of Law. The Fund commemorates the career achievements and academic contributions of J. Ralph Beaird, who served as Dean of The University of Georgia School of Law from 1976 to 1987 and as Acting Dean from 1972 to 1974. This first-year closing competition was named after Dean Beaird in 1993 when he personally provided the funds for the student award.

Be Kind Fund in Memory of Chief Justice P. Harris Hines

The purpose of the Be Kind Fund in Memory of Chief Justice P. Harris Hines will:

  • sponsor a Georgia Jurist-in-Residence, where a Georgia judge or justice will spend a period in residence at the School of Law teaching and interacting with students each year
  • support semester/summer fellowships for students, with preference given to those who will work or serve as judicial clerks at the Supreme Court of Georgia
  • fund scholarship aid for law students
