Xavier R. Brown serves as the assistant dean for admissions, diversity and inclusion & strategic initiatives at the University of Georgia School of Law. In this role, he oversees the law school's admissions process for the Juris Doctor and Master in the Study of Law programs. His diversity and inclusion portfolio involves work with faculty, staff, students and alumni/alumnae relating to academic support, recruitment and community outreach. Additionally, he advises the Davenport-Benham Black Law Students Association, the Asian Law Students Association, the Hispanic Law Students Association and the Outlaws student organization.
Previously he was involved in all aspects of the J.D. admissions process including application review, rendering admissions decisions and scholarship awarding. He was the chief architect of institutional recruitment strategies and played a valuable part in managing progress toward annual enrollment objectives. He also assisted with the development of marketing strategies and materials and played an active role in diversity and inclusion programming as well as directed the school’s Summer Academic Success program, a pre-matriculation program for incoming students.
While earning his Juris Doctor at UGA, Brown worked as a legal intern at the UGA Carl Vinson Institute of Government, a full-time judicial law clerk at the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, a summer associate at the law firm Coleman, Chambers, Rogers & Williams and a judicial intern for Superior Court Chief Judge Murphy C. Miller of Georgia's Enotah Judicial Circuit.
Brown earned his bachelor's degree summa cum laude from Georgia Southern University and his Juris Doctor from UGA.
