Paul B. Murphy currently serves as partner at King & Spalding where he focuses on white collar criminal defense, investigations and litigation under the False Claims Act, corporate internal investigations, corporate governance and compliance, and national security matters. Murphy has represented clients facing high profile government investigations, and he has a wealth of experience in both health care fraud and criminal environmental investigations. He has served as independent counsel to public company boards and committees, conducting investigations into issues that could implicate senior management. Murphy previously served as the chief of staff at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and acted as the primary advisor to the director of the FBI. He was also the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Georgia, and he worked in Washington, D.C., as associate deputy attorney general and later chief of staff to the U.S. deputy attorney general. Murphy earned his bachelor’s degree at Vanderbilt University and his law degree at UGA.
