The Georgia Department of Family and Children Services' (DFCS) Policy and Regulations Unit is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Child Welfare Policy Manual which is intended to guide child welfare staff regarding the policies, procedures and practices directly related to their duties as required by federal and state laws and in accordance with Georgia's Child Welfare Practice Model. The Unit's Child Welfare Policy Administration Team is also responsible for child welfare policy development and dissemination, alignment and integration of policies with federal regulations, policy consultation and technical assistance, and program implementation. Students will assist with creation and implementation of child welfare policies by performing duties such as legal research and writing, analyzing the impact of legislation, updating policies to comply with law and practice changes, conducting workgroups of subject-matter experts, and preparing presentations.
