For the 13th consecutive year, University of Georgia School of Law graduates have led the state in the Georgia bar exam passage rate. UGA Law grads who sat for the July 2026 exam posted the highest rate for first-time takers among the state’s law schools and exceeded the overall first-time average passage rate by more than 9%.
“The University of Georgia School of Law remains focused on preparing well-rounded graduates who will succeed and thrive as members of the legal profession, and one of our key indicators of success is bar exam passage,” School of Law Dean Usha R. Rodrigues said. “We are pleased that such a high percentage of our first-time takers passed during the July sitting.
“Our bar exam preparation team, led by Assistant Dean Tony Waller, supports a range of programming designed to help our students prepare for this important test, and the results speak for themselves,” she added. “Despite our overall success, we do remain committed to working with those who did not achieve the optimal result. Our team’s dedication – and the hard work of our recent graduates – is evidenced on the national level by the Class of 2023 Ultimate Bar Passage Rate of 97.62% (for those who sat for the bar and passed within two years of graduation) and our recent U.S. News & World Report ranking of #6 in the nation for this metric. On the state level, UGA graduates have led the state in July Georgia bar exam passage for first-time takers for 13 consecutive years.”
