Description

Type of work: Georgia Tech Athletics is a Division I Football Bowl Subdivision athletic program within the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Georgia Tech currently sponsors seventeen Division I sports. Students will perform a combination of tasks, with emphasis on research, writing, and monitoring, including helping to research and interpret NCAA and ACC rules and monitor compliance. Students will also receive experience with other assignments such as drafting and reviewing contracts, researching legal issues, researching NCAA legislation, waivers and interpretation requests; developing preparing compliance training materials, reviewing departmental policies and procedures, assisting with the initial eligibility certification process, monitoring practices, games, and countable hour logs to ensure compliance with NCAA rules, and conducting audits of documentation relating to recruiting activities. 

Prior coursework or other skills: Genuine interest in legal and compliance as a career track; strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; courses completed in sports and entertainment law would be helpful but not required; prior work in a law firm would be helpful but not required; desire to participate in externship program for both fall and spring terms.
