Applications now open!
The Undergraduate Fellowship will provide UGA students a unique opportunity to deepen their legal studies and gain new insights on how they can use the law to build a career that makes a difference, whether they plan to attend law school or not.
Aimed at rising juniors who will be in the midst of making important career choices, the fellowship will provide a set of unique benefits.
The benefits of the fellowship will include:
- Financial support, to include support for books for minor classes taught by law faculty, a waiver of the application fee to UGA Law (should the student decide to apply), and standardized test preparation materials.
- A series of five luncheons that will include conversations on topics related to the law and legal careers with invited speakers. Both topics and guests will be selected by the fellows in conjunction with the professors who teach the minor's required classes. Lunch conversations might include UGA professors with expertise on legal controversies in the news or leaders from inside or outside UGA who understand practical issues related to a legal career.
- Assistance with registration for undergraduate JURI classes.
Fellows will be selected from among rising juniors already enrolled in the minor program, or those who have submitted an application for the minor, who are from groups who have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education. For further details, applicants are encouraged to consult the university’s Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Plan, especially page 27.
Applications for the 2025-26 Undergraduate Fellowship will open between February 25 - March 18, 2025.
Interested students should use the link below to submit a transcript and an essay that will ask the applicant to discuss how their life experiences or personal characteristics will add significantly to the academic, cultural, ethnic, geographic, racial, or socioeconomic diversity of the minor’s student population. Applications will close on June 7, 2023, and fellows will be notified soon thereafter.
