Join the American Constitution Society and Black Law Students Association on Wednesday, April 6th from 4:30 – 7 pm for a virtual screening of On These Grounds to explore one fight against the school-to-prison pipeline in South Carolina.
Spurring from a viral, violent incident between a school police officer and black teenager, this film discusses violence against black girls and activism to make a more equitable education system. The ACLU filed a federal lawsuit challenging the school’s policies in Kenny v. Wilson.
The film is under two hours long. After the virtual screening, we will be joined in a Zoom Q&A by Niya Kenny, who is one of the subjects of the film, and potentially a filmmaker. Associate Dean Andrea Dennis will moderate the Q&A discussion. Learn more about the film on Represent Justice.
The link below will direct you to the virtual screening and will share directions for joining the virtual Q&A discussion. Join us on the virtual screening site, Eventive.
