Robinson Scholars Program Fund

The purpose of the Fund is to provide support for the Robinson Scholars Program at the School of Law. The Program was created to enhance diversity in the legal profession by recruiting and providing long-term support to students from legally underserved communities. Consideration will be given to students who wish to serve the State of Georgia through public interest work.

The Robinson Scholars Program is named in memory of 1974 alumnus Robert E. "Robbie" Robinson, a civil and human rights attorney who was killed in 1989 by a politically motivated mail bomb that was sent to his Savannah office.  Robinson represented many individuals who could not afford an attorney, was active in the NAACP, and served as an alderman for the city of Savannah.

The Robinson Scholars Program honors this legal leader by assisting students - in particular those with a desire to pursue public interest work - as they follow their dreams to serve their communities, and it focuses on several key areas: recruitment, preparation for law school, advancing diversity in the legal profession, and increasing access to justice in legally underserved communities. The program aims to break down some of the barriers that exist to entering law school, not only by providing financial aid, but also by creating an environment where personalized support is more readily available.
