Congratulations to 2021 graduate Raneem Ashrawi for receiving an Equal Justice Works Fellowship, which is considered one of the most prestigious and competitive post-graduate legal fellowships in the country. She is one 77 fellows selected from more than 450 applicants.
Each year, fellows are selected based on their design of a two-year project in partnership with legal services organizations to help build sustainable solutions in the communities where they serve.
As an Equal Justice Works Fellow, Ashrawi will advocate for Georgia youth with behavioral and mental health needs by advancing their access to the preventive care and reasonable accommodations to which they are entitled under federal law. She will be hosted by the Atlanta Legal Aid Society, and her fellowship is cosponsored by Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP and The Home Depot.
Ashrawi said her "touchstone" is to "be the adult you needed as a child." She added that this project is the culmination of all of her experiences, not only from her legal work and education but that intimate understanding of a struggle that just cannot be taught.
