Gary Sangha is a serial legal-tech entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of LexCheck, which is using artificial intelligence to help businesses more quickly review and negotiate contracts. Gary teaches at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and serves as a Fellow at the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics. Prior to starting LexCheck, Gary founded Intelligize, an information services company that helps business professionals more easily research regulatory filings. Intelligize was one of the fastest growing legal technology companies in the US and in 2016 was acquired by LexisNexis.

Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, Gary practiced securities law at Shearman & Sterling in New York City and White & Case in Hong Kong. He speaks frequently on entrepreneurship, product development, legal innovation and B2B sales. Gary has been featured in numerous media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron's and various industry blogs. He has been awarded multiple honors including being named to Crains New York's "40 under 40" list.

Gary earned his J.D. at the University of Pennsylvania Law School and received a B.A. in Economics and Commerce from the University of Toronto.

 

Michael Ross is the VP of Product for LexCheck, a legal tech startup working on automating and accelerating the contract negotiation process including by leveraging AI and natural language processing techniques.

Prior to joining LexCheck, Michael spent five years practicing as a corporate associate for law firms, the last three of which in the New York office of Ropes & Gray. At Ropes, Michael was a member of the Private Equity Transactions group where he represented private equity funds in connection with mergers and acquisitions. Before law school, Michael worked for Honda of America Manufacturing's purchasing group, and for Deloitte's e-discovery practice where his role focused on automating processes and delivering custom solutions in response to client requests.

Michael earned his Juris Doctor from Northwestern Law. He has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Ohio State University, with a focus in operations management.

 

This session will begin with a brief introduction to the world of artificial intelligence. This will be followed by a discussion of how AI can and is being applied to the world of contract management and negotiation, including a demonstration of the LexCheck automated negotiation platform. The presentation will conclude with a look into the future of how AI will affect jobs generally, and the resulting role of attorneys in contract negotiations.
