Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) offers a general poverty law practice throughout the northeast of Georgia. Located in Gainesville, Georgia, with a satellite office in Athens, Legal Services represents low-income and underserved people to assist with housing, domestic relations, public benefits and education law problems. Students will gain experience in a range of different areas, from investigation, client interviewing, research and drafting to preparation for both administrative and trial litigation. Students may have the opportunity to represent clients under Georgia's Student Practice Rule.
Desire to work in public interest practice; Spanish-speakers desirable; Students should preference Athens or Gainesville office in their application, and ability to occasionally drive between offices or to court is helpful; Summer applications accepted through either the Summer Externship application, or the Public Sector Career Fair.
