The School of Law has received a $3,000 grant from the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association to support the launch of the Classic City Civics Project. This collaborative initiative seeks to enhance civics education for middle school students in Athens.

Associate Dean for Academic Affairs & Martin Chair of Law Andrea L. Dennis, who is leading the project alongside third-year law student Caleb Z. Morris, said the project will offer interactive, locally-focused resources designed to engage students in understanding law, government and citizenship.

“The grant from the Foundation of the FBA is a critical first step in making this vision a reality,” said Morris, who currently serves as the president of UGA’s Federal Bar Association Student Chapter and the national law student chair of the FBA Law Student Division. “We are excited to begin building resources that will empower and inspire the next generation of community leaders.”

Richard Dunn, founder of the local nonprofit Education Matters, will also help support the mission of the Classic City Civics Project.
