The National Black Law Journal is excited to be seeking student submissions for its 28th Volume.

This volume will be the first in a recurring series of civil rights updates, focused on recent developments on civil and human rights issues impacting Black communities. If you are a student or know a student who has written a paper, memo, note, comment or other literary work relating to current civil rights dialogues around these issues and would like to share it with a wider audience while supporting the NBLJ, please consider submitting it for publication! In addition to student submissions, we also encourage submissions from activists, community members, organizers, artists, and others outside of the legal profession who are advocating for the rights of Black communities.

Please submit your work to nblj@lawnet.ucla.edu. Submissions should ideally be less than 20 pages or 10,000 words, but longer pieces will also be considered. We are accepting submissions on a rolling basis, and encourage you to submit as soon as possible.

This volume will mark a transition toward a more flexible online model in recognition of the challenges and barriers of traditional legal publications, the systemic underrepresentation of Black students at law schools across the country, and the need for greater accessibility to legal scholarship. We are hopeful that this change will provide an additional platform for Black student voices and will create a more flexible foundation from which NBLJ can grow.

Please direct any questions to nblj@lawnet.ucla.edu We look forward to receiving your submissions.
