Edith House Law Lecture Series - 

The primary purpose of the Fund is to support the Women Law Students' Association's lecture program at the University of Georgia School of Law. The Edith House Law Lecture Series is a means of bringing to the forefront of the law school community speakers who represent the professional advancements women have made in the legal profession.  

If the entire income generated by the Fund is not needed for the purpose as stated herein, the excess income may be used to support student scholarships. Preference shall be given to recipients who reflect the values of Ms. House.

Edith House was the first woman graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law; she was co-valedictorian of the class of 1925. Additionally, Ms. House the first recipient of the Benjamin Z. Phillips Scholarship which was established in 1923.

Ms. House served for 30 years as Assistant United States Attorney for three-fourths of the State of Florida. Shortly before her retirement in 1963, Ms. House served as the United States Attorney for the South District of Florida. 

House was particularly supportive of the University of Georgia's women law students, and when she died, in December 1987, she left a substantial portion of her estate to the school to fund the Edith House Lecture Series.
