Words cannot adequately express the depth of emotion felt by many in our community following the killings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and other Black Americans. Such tragic and unnecessary losses of life are impossible to comprehend and, in light of this, we are sure that many of you have engaged in countless conversations to try to make sense of the state of race relations in our country.
There is a need for open dialogue and shared commiseration during this time. To begin that dialogue, members of the law school community are invited to participate in an Evening of Conversation featuring civil rights attorney and pastor, Francys Johnson, and attorney and educator, Dr. Nyota Tucker. A link will be circulated to members of the law school community.
It is hoped that this forum will serve as an outlet for members of the law school community to express their feelings and engage in constructive dialogue about the effects of racism broadly and the critical role lawyers play in the march toward social justice.
