Congratulations to Event Coordinator Jessica Kilby, who was selected for the 2025 Emma Terrell Distinguished Employee Award. Presented annually by the Law School Staff Representative Group, the award recognizes “individuals who have demonstrated a strong work ethic, commitment to service, and exceptional job performance as well as the cooperation needed to ensure the School of Law meets and exceeds its goals.”
When presenting Kilby with the award, Law School Staff Representation Group President and Associate Director of Career Development Katie M. Voyles described Kilby as “the creative force behind some of the most meaningful experiences” at the law school. Adding that Kilby “brings events to life with intention, detail and care – whether it’s a large school-wide program or an intimate student gathering. Her professionalism, creativity, and calm problem-solving ensure that every event not only runs smoothly but feels welcoming and thoughtfully designed.”
Nominators also highlighted Kilby’s warmth and dependability. Many mentioned stopping by her office not only for help or advice, but also for a smile, encouragement or even a much-needed snack to make it through a long day. One called her one of those quiet heroes who arrives early, stays late, and consistently goes above and beyond without ever seeking recognition.
