Legal Ethics and Professionalism Symposium Fund -
The purpose of the Fund is to support expenses related to a symposium/conference/workshop held at the University of Georgia School of Law devoted to issues of ethics and professionalism. This event will be focused on but not limited to the connection between the legal academy and the practicing bar.
In addition to continuing to fund the rotating symposium on professionalism and ethics in the practice of law, any funds not needed for the purpose of the symposium may be used to support the activities of the University of Georgia School of Law dedicated to promotion legal ethics and professionalism, including expenses connected with the Law School's orientation.
The Fund was created by a court order in which the United States District Judge Hugh Lawson entered an order sanctioning the DuPont Corporation for misconduct. Under that order, DuPont established funds at Emory Law School, Georgia State university Law School, Mercer Law School and the University of Georgia School of Law to organize and host an annual symposium/conference/workshop devoted to issues of ethics and professionalism. The symposium/conference/workshop is hosted on a rotating basis by each of the four law schools.
