Jane W. Wilson Endowment for Family Justice -
The purpose of the Fund is to provide support for family justice initiatives at the University of Georgia School of Law, particularly the Family Justice Clinic, in order to address issues of intimate partner violence and abuse. Based on the Fund's spendable resources, the following items may be support through the school's family justice initiatives:
- A full-tuition scholarship and professional development stipend to the Jane W. Wilson Distinguished Law Fellows each of whom shall be expected to (i) have demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., magna cum laude or greater equivalent from undergraduate program; LSAT, GPA, and other indicators of potential law school class academic ranking with the greatest likelihood of achieving Order of the Coif or tope 10 percent of the class), (ii) significant personal achievement, (iii) family justice interest with priority given to students who have a) experienced family violence and/or b) been raised in a rural location within the United States of America (with special priority being given to students from Appalachian Mountain regions of the Southern United States, (iv) be of exemplary moral character, and (v) be in good standing at the School of Law. In the event that a recipient no longer is in good standing at the end of an academic year, he or she will forfeit the scholarship and accompanying benefits;
- The employment of a fellow, with preference being given to recent University of Georgia Law graduates, to support the work of the Clinic;
- Litigation support for the Clinic Director and other support to work with law students and to manage litigation on behalf of victims of intimate partner violence and abuse;
- Other related expenses.
