Hey Law Dawgs!
It’s that time again–Food Frenzy is back and UGA Law is in it to win it! Food Frenzy is a fundraising competition hosted by the Georgia Attorney General where law schools compete to see which can raise the most money for their local food bank. UGA Law raised more than $15,000 to fight hunger in our community last year, narrowly losing to Mercer Law. This year we're taking #1 back! We need everyone’s help to accomplish our goal, so here are some important things to note:
$1 = 4 meals: Given the pandemic, demand at the local food bank has increased 50% and is nearing an all-time high. Thanks to their hardworking volunteers, every $1 you donate will allow them to distribute 4 meals to our community!
Donations will be accepted February 7 through March 4 via Venmo (@ugalawsba), cash, or check made out to UGA Law Student Bar Association (include “food frenzy” and your year/section if a 1L in the memo, please). You can also donate online via the link HERE.
Prizes for Donors: For every $1 ANY student donates, they’ll receive one automatic entry into a drawing for three grand prizes and several smaller prizes—the more you give the more entries you get! The grand prizes for this year will be a signed football from National Championship Football Coach Kirby Smart, a framed, special-edition AJC National Championship newspaper, and a pair of Apple Airpod Pros! Giftcards to Chick-Fil-A, Amazon, Starbucks, and Jittery Joes will also be awarded. Further, from February 21 through March 4, SBA will be tabling in the library and you will be able to stop by and purchase tickets to have lunch, dinner, tea, or throw a pie at a professor.
1L Battle of the Sections: 1Ls, it’s time to team up with your section to raise the most money! The winning section will win a Chick-Fil-A Party, plus Deans Rutledge, Barnett, and Waller will attend one of the winning section’s classes and take the cold calls for the day! Further, all 1Ls who donate $5 or more will receive a Cold Call Exemption for an entire day in March. (More info to come from your Section VPs).
And look out for posts on your class and Current Law Dawgs GroupMe and Facebook pages for more information and exciting fundraising opportunities!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to either me or another SBA representative. Have a great week and let's stamp out hunger in our community!
