This panel will focus on the effects race plays on the death penalty in America. Professor Nesset will provide a beginning presentation on the status of legal challenges to the death penalty based on race, and then the panelists will speak on their personal experiences of race in their capital punishment cases.
Professor Nesset will be the moderator and the panelists will be Atteeyah Hollie, Managing Attorney for Impact Litigation with the Southern Center for Human Rights; Bo King, Staff Attorney with Federal Defender Program, Inc.; Lauren Sudeall, Board Member for the Southern Center for Human Rights and Associate Professor and Founding member of Center for Access to Justice at Georgia State University; and Ngozi Ndulue, Senior Director of Research and Special Projects with the Death Penalty Information Center.
