Please join FedSoc and ACS on Thursday 2/27 at 12pm in Room C for a live recording of the podcast "Short Circuit Live." Short Circuit is a podcast done around the country by the Institute for Justice. Each episode focuses on a different Circuit Court of Appeals. This podcast will be an "Eleventh Circuit Preview" podcast. For an example, listen to the Seventh Circuit episode hosted at U. Chicago Law here.

We are excited to be hosting three excellent panelists:

Professor Mike Wells, University of Georgia School of Law. Professor Wells will discuss Lewis v. Governor of Alabama (11th Cir. 2019) (involves a dispute between the Alabama Governor and the City of Birmingham over minimum wage rates). Professor Wells is one of our own and needs no further introduction.

Professor Eric Segall, Georgia State University Law School. Professor Segall will discuss Pitch v. United States (11th Cir. 2019) (involves Anthony Pitch's efforts to unseal the grand jury transcripts from the horrific Moore's Ford Lynching case) (opinion was vacated and currently awaiting en banc decision). Professor Segall is a member of ACS and has an active twitter presence.

Andrew Fleischman, attorney at Ross & Pines. Mr. Fleischman will discuss the Georgia Court of Appeals decision Glenn v. The State (Ga. Ct. App. April 29, 2019) (involves a situation where an Athens, GA man was accused of violating the terms of his probation). Mr. Fleischman frequently argues in Georgia's appellate courts and is a leading contributor to #appellatetwitter.
