The Future of Global Health Governance
This conference will address three crucial questions of global health governance. It will consider, first, whether and how the ailing global public health infrastructure might be reinvigorated; second, how the pandemic has threatened and exposed limitations of the social safety net in the United States and other economies around the world; and, finally, the phenomenon of vaccine refusal and what national and international legal institutions might do to curb it.
A celebration of Prof. Andrea Dennis' book Rap on Trial: Race, Lyrics and Guilt in America
In celebration of Martin Chair Andrea L. Dennis' recently published book, Rap on Trial: Race, Lyrics and Guilt in America, discussion will be held featuring Dennis and Dr. Bettina L. Love with UGA's College of Education.
Published by The New Press, Rap on Trial examines the use of "rap lyrics as criminal evidence to convict and incarcerate young men of color" based on hundreds of court cases from across the country.
Faculty Colloquium - Jessica Roth, Cardozo Law
Jessica Roth is a Professor of Law at Cardozo School of Law, where she is the co-director of the Jacob Burns Center for Ethics in the Practice of Law.
Previously she was a federal prosecutor in the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York for seven years. As a prosecutor, she focused on violent crime and securities fraud and conducted numerous jury trials. Her teaching and research interests are in criminal law and evidence.

The United Kingdom's Garden Court Chambers presents the international series "Black Lives Matter," which will feature the law school's Associate Dean Andrea Dennis speaking about the criminalization of rap lyrics.
Faculty Colloquium - Bennett Capers
Professor Bennett Capers is the Stanley A. August Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School, where he teaches Evidence, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Law. His academic interests include the relationship between race, gender, and criminal justice, and he is a prolific writer on these topics.
