Join us for a conversation with Professor Ringhand on the nuts and bolts of election regulation. Many of the most contentious issues surrounding this year's presidential election involve basic election administration. Professor Ringhand will talk us through the basic laws undergirding voter registration, mail in and absentee voting, polling place operation, and the Electoral Count Act to help all of us become better consumers of news on election night. The Women's Law Student Association is hosting the 38th Annual Edith House Lecture featuring Georgia Supreme Court Justices Carla Wong McMillian and Sarah Hawkins Warren. They will share their backgrounds, experiences as women in the legal profession and paths to the state of Georgia's highest court.

As of the March 2020 Presidential Preference Primary election, Athens-Clarke County voters will begin using new voting equipment for the first time in nearly 20 years. The new system is paper based, while still using secure technology for voter accuracy. The new system is managed by the Georgia Secretary of State's office for use throughout Georgia and completely replaces the previous voting system.

The Federalist Society will be hosting The Honorable Stephen Dillard of the Court of Appeals of Georgia on September 9th at 12:00pm-12:50pm. All students and faculty are welcome to attend the Zoom meeting and learn about Judge Dillard's perspective on the role of a judge, in addition to his own experience as a valued member of the judiciary.
