Join us for a conversation with Professor Ringhand on the nuts and bolts of election regulation. Many of the most contentious issues surrounding this year's presidential election involve basic election administration. Professor Ringhand will talk us through the basic laws undergirding voter registration, mail in and absentee voting, polling place operation, and the Electoral Count Act to help all of us become better consumers of news on election night. Hamilton Holmes Jr., son of Hamilton Holmes Sr. and a business development director for Pieper O'Brien Herr Architects in Alpharetta, will present the keynote address for the 18th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Breakfast.

In place of the traditional ticketed breakfast, the event will be celebrated with a video premiere on Friday, Jan. 15 at 9 a.m. on UGA's Facebook page. This virtual event is free and open to the public. The theme for this year's program is, "The Power of the Dream: Forging a Path Forward."

Professor Bennett Capers is the Stanley A. August Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School, where he teaches Evidence, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Law. His academic interests include the relationship between race, gender, and criminal justice, and he is a prolific writer on these topics.
