The four UGA faculty members who were named 2020 and 2021 Regents' Professors, an honor bestowed by the Board of Regents on distinguished faculty whose scholarship or creative activity is recognized both nationally and internationally as innovative and pace-setting, will each discuss their work in a joint Charter Lecture. Professor Bennett Capers is the Stanley A. August Professor of Law at Brooklyn Law School, where he teaches Evidence, Criminal Procedure, and Criminal Law. His academic interests include the relationship between race, gender, and criminal justice, and he is a prolific writer on these topics.
Professor Gluck is currently working on a project with Professor Beth Burch, titled MDL Revolution, which will be forthcoming in the NYU Law Review in April 2021. I will send the paper out by the end of the week.

This panel will focus on the effects race plays on the death penalty in America. Professor Nesset will provide a beginning presentation on the status of legal challenges to the death penalty based on race, and then the panelists will speak on their personal experiences of race in their capital punishment cases.
Professor Butler researches and teaches in the areas of criminal law, race relations law, and critical theory. He is the author of the widely reviewed "Let's Get Free: A Hip-Hop Theory of Justice," which received the Harry Chapin Media award.
