Throughout its forty-three history, the Dean Rusk International Law Center at the University of Georgia School of Law has hosted, for brief or extended periods, distinguished scholars in various aspects of international, comparative, and transnational law. These visiting researchers and scholars may teach short courses, guest-lecture in law school classes, take part in workshop presentations, and pursue their own research projects. 2019-20

Dr. Ruqin Jin conducted research on comparative securities law; University of Georgia School of Law Professors Usha Rodrigues and Christopher M. Bruner served as his faculty sponsors. Jin is a Lecturer in the School of Law at Anhui University of Finance and Economics located in Bengbu, Anhui Province, China. He also serves as a researcher at Anhui University's Economic Law Research Center.

Professor Wen Tang conducted research on comparative tort law. University of Georgia School of Law Professor Michael L. Wells served as her faculty sponsor. Tang is an Associate Professor of Law and Graduate Supervisor at Anhui University of Finance & Economics, located in Bengbu, Anhui Province, China.

2018-19

SeongEun Kim conducted research on comparative labor standards in the United States and Korea; University of Georgia School of Law Adjunct Professor Weyman T. Johnson served as his faculty sponsor. Kim is a member of the administrative staff in the Department of Human Resources of Konkuk University in Seoul, Republic of Korea. He holds his Ph.D. in Labor Law from Dongguk University.

Jiang Xi, Lecturer in the School of Law at Jilin University of Finance and Economics located in Changchun, Jilin Province, in the northeastern part of China, conducted research on "Improving the Enforcement Systems for International Court of Justice Judgments." University of Georgia School of Law Professor Harlan G. Cohen served as her faculty sponsor.

Professor Yanying Zhang from Shandong University of Finance and Economics also continued research on "Land Takings from the Perspective of Remedy: Problems Inspection and Systems Innovation," funded by a grant from the Ministry of Education of China.

Professor Yanying Zhang researched "Land Takings from the Perspective of Remedy: Problems Inspection and Systems Innovation," funded by a grant from the Ministry of Education of China; her University of Georgia School of Law faculty sponsor is Professor Christian Turner. Zhang serves as Professor of Law, Graduate Supervisor, Director of the Comparative Law Research Center, and Vice Dean of the Economic and Trade Law Department at Shandong University of Finance and Economics, located in Jinan, Shandong Province, in the eastern part of China.

Dr. Piotr Uhma researched "Cultures of International Law: A Security and Human Rights Perspective." His University of Georgia School of Law faculty sponsor was Professor Harlan G. Cohen. Uhma serves as lecturer in international law and postdoctoral researcher at the Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Kraków University, located in Kraków, Poland.

Dr. Javier Dondé Matute, who earned his LL.M. degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 1998, and is now a Professor of International Criminal Law at Instituto Nacionale de Ciencias Penales (National Institute of Criminal Sciences) in Mexico City, Mexico, presented a work in progress, entitled "Criminal Responsibility as a Founding Principle of International Criminal Law," as part of our International Law Colloquium Series led by Professor Harlan G. Cohen.

Dr. Daniel Blum, a postdoctoral researcher at the Vienna University of Economics and Business/Wirtschafts Universität Wien, Austria, consulted with Walter Hellerstein, Distinguished Research Professor & Francis Shackelford Distinguished Professor in Taxation Law Emeritus, on issues of international taxation, and gave a faculty presentation, "Taxation of Non-Residents: Concepts and Limitations"

Dr. Ziv Bohrer, a member of the Faculty of Law at Bar-Ilan University, Ramat-Gan, Israel, taught a 1-unit course entitled "Selected Issues in International Criminal Law," and presented to the law school faculty a paper in the same field
