At the University of Georgia School of Law, all first-year grades except Criminal Law are in progress until May. The fall exams determine only a portion of the final grades, which are conferred following spring semester. Therefore complete transcripts are not available until after spring semester grades are finalized.
In order to assist employers in evaluating first-year students for summer employment, a chart has been provided by the Office of Legal Career Services for students to report raw scores received in courses other than Criminal Law.
General Guidelines:
- You cannot estimate grades or class rank, but may provide precisely the information that each faculty member has given to you about your mid-term score in each course.
- Please reference Dean Kurtz's memo explaining the Honor Code's application to 1L interviews and your use of the above chart.
- Good rule of thumb: don't do your own math!
- You cannot reference your "class" only your "section" in any explanation of your raw score.
Following the receipt of your first-year grades, you will no longer use the first-semester grade chart. If you have any questions, be sure to consult LCS, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, or the Law School Registrar.
