Biographical Information: 

John L. Douglas currently serves as senior executive vice president of TIAA. In this role, he is responsible for legal, risk, compliance, government relations and regulatory affairs, as well as a series of special projects on an enterprise-wide basis to create efficiencies and address frictions in the delivery of financial services to TIAA customers. He is a member of the firm’s executive committee and is a director of TIAA Bank, FSB. He previously was head of the bank regulatory practice at Davis Polk & Wardwell in both the New York and Washington, D.C., offices and served as former general counsel of the FDIC.

He earned his bachelor’s degree cum laude from Davidson College and his Juris Doctor magna cum laude from UGA, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and served as a notes editor for the Georgia Law Review.
