Biographical Information: 

Rupert M. Barkoff is chairman of the franchise team at Kilpatrick Townsend, and has been practicing franchise, distribution and corporate law since 1973. His practice focuses on solutions to registration and structuring issues and developing individual and collective solutions to franchisor-franchisee problems.

Barkoff is recognized as a leading franchise attorney by The Best Lawyers in America for 16 consecutive years, and was named the 2011 and 2016 Franchising Attorney of the Year in Atlanta. He also received the Lew Rudnick Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising in 2010, among other honors. He has published more than 250 articles focusing on franchise law and is the editor-in-chief of Fundamentals in Franchising.

Barkoff earned his undergraduate degree magna cum laude and juris doctor degree with high distinction at the University of Michigan.
