James G. “Jim” Bodiford serves as a senior Superior Court judge for the Cobb County Judicial Circuit in Georgia. He was elected to the bench in 1994 and assumed senior status in 2015. Previously, he served as the chief judge of the Cobb County Magistrate Court. In 2018, Bodiford was honored with the Charles L. Weltner Freedom of Information Award by the Georgia First Amendment Foundation for his commitment to an open courtroom.
Before becoming a judge, he worked in private practice handling both criminal and civil cases and as an attorney for the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office.
Bodiford earned his bachelor’s degree from Mercer University and his law degree from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.
