The Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law dedicated its most recent publication, Vol. 39 No. 3, to former Associate Dean and Kirbo Chair Gabriel M. Wilner, who passed away in May 2010 after more than 35 years of service at Georgia Law. Wilner was instrumental in the creation of the journal and used to serve as its faculty adviser.

As part of the special edition, several Georgia Law faculty members wrote tributes to Wilner. These included:

Rusk Center Director C. Donald Johnson, "Foreword: Gabriel M. Wilner Tribute Issue of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law" (39 Ga. J. Int'l & Comp. L. 497 (2011)); Distinguished Research Professor & Shackelford Distinguished Professor in Taxation Law Walter Hellerstein, "Fondly Remembering Gabe Wilner" (39 Ga. J. Int'l & Comp. L. 513 (2011)); and Dean and Hosch Professor Rebecca Hanner White, "Gabriel Wilner Tribute" (39 Ga. J. Int'l & Comp. L. 533 (2011)).
