Overview of the Office of Legal Career Services

LCS Mission:

 

The mission of the Office of Legal Career Services is to provide students with the tools, resources, and guidance necessary to enable them to secure fulfilling employment in line with their career goals and individual qualifications.  Navigating the legal job search can be challenging, but LCS staff are committed to supporting you throughout the process.

 

LCS Services:

 

LCS assists students with a variety of services including:

  • Individual career counseling
  • On-campus interviews (OCI)
  • Off-campus interview opportunities including job fairs targeting employers throughout the country
  • Online job postings through Symplicity
  • Job search strategy
  • Resume and cover letter critique
  • Online resources
  • Remote interviewing room (for video and telephone interviews)
  • Faxing and postage for job search related materials

 

Student Professional Development:

 

LCS works in conjuction with the Office of Student Professional Development (SPD) which provides resources and educational programs to help equip students with the tools necessary to succeed in finding a job and beyond.  SPD programs cover areas such as legal specialties, networking skills, and interviewing skills.  SPD also helps student find mentors to help guide their growth as professionals.

  • Southeastern Minority Job Fair (SEMJF) online registration opens for students May 10, 2012

 

  • Fall Interviewing Dates:

    • Student Registration Period for Fall 2012 Early Interview Week: July 2 - July 15, 2012

    • Fall 2012 Early On-Campus Interview Week: August 6-8, 2012

    • Fall 2012 On Campus Interview Season: August 20 - November 16, 2012

 


 

Fall On Campus Interviewing (OCI)

Overview:

Fall 2012 on-campus interviews (OCI) will begin with Early Interview Week (August 6-8) and sessions may be scheduled through November 16. Potential employers will travel to Athens to interview pre-selected 2Ls, 3Ls, and Recent Grads at the law school. Students will be able to view and apply to participating employers in Symplicity beginning on July 2nd.

The 2012 Fall OCI User Guide with timelines and instructions on how to manage your applications is now available in Symplicity > Homepage > Shortcuts (right column) > Document Library > Keyword Search = OCI User Guide or can be located at this link or by clicking on the image below.  Note:  the first OCI session signup deadline is July 15 for Early Interview Week (August 6-8).
