Welcome to the Law School Staff Representative Group Page

(a.k.a. Law School Staff Council)

Our objectives:

To provide an open forum for the introduction and discussion of issues and concerns by Law School classified personnel and other regular non-faculty status employees.
To discuss issues and concerns with the Dean of the law school when the Group deems such a request is necessary. Where possible, issues and concerns should be addressed and resolved within the law school.
To introduce issues and concerns to the University Staff Council if deemed appropriate.
To exercise selection and administration of the Emma Terrell Distinguished Employee Award.
To maintain and regularly update a web site and to periodically direct staff members to access said website for staff information.

Meetings:

ALL classified personnel or other regular non-faculty status employees of the law school are welcome to attend our meetings and participate in discussions, but may not cast votes.

Emma Terrell Distinguished Employee Award:

The Emma Terrell Distinguished Employee Award, formerly known as the Distinguished Service Award, recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a strong work ethic, commitment to service, and exceptional job performance as well as the cooperation needed among employees to ensure the School of Law meets and exceeds its goals. This award was named for a long time School of Law employee Emma Terrell whose work embodied a strong work ethic and outstanding job performance.

Flip This Lounge-November 2010

When the refrigerator broke down and created soup out of the ice cream for our 2010 Ice Cream Social, the LSRG took it upon themselves to give our faculty/staff lounge a new look. We like to call it "Flip this Lounge" our own version of the reality show "Flip this House". We lobbied the Law School for a new refrigerator, asked the Physical Plant to replace the old carpet, and we added a fresh coat of paint to brighten up the room. It turned out that replacing the carpet also included getting a new tile floor in the kitchen area. And when Carol Watson provided us with some trendy new wall decor, we felt a celebration was in order. The Staff Council hosted a "lounge warming" on November 11, 2010 to celebrate the updated look.
