Library Annex Re-Roofing: Oh No! Don't Let the Rain Come Down!

Over the next 3-4 weeks, the Law Library Annex will be noisier than usual because of roof replacement. Until 8 or 9 am each morning, there will be construction noise as the roofers remove sections of the roof each day. It’s possible that we will be able to hear footsteps and a generator running throughout the day as the roofers add new sections of roofing. The contractor has promised to keep smells to a minimum and has assured us that the roofing materials are not a health hazard.

There’s never a good time for construction. Luckily, we were able to negotiate a construction date for the start of this semester as opposed to the start date during final exams that was originally proposed. We appreciate your patience during the project.

Good Luck to Jeff Satterfield!

The Law Library extends congratulations to Jeff Satterfield in the Acquisitions Department on his January 31 retirement. Our very best wishes, Jeff - we will miss you!

Legislative Insight: Your New Best Friend for Legislative History Research
The Law Library recently acquired a new database - Legislative Insight (follow link, then choose the Law Library in the Select Account drop-down box).

If you dislike doing legislative history, then Legislative Insight is your new best friend.  This database contains over 18,000 Federal legislative histories going back to 1929 and is continually updating its holdings.  All you need to provide is the bill number, popular name or keywords and Legislative Insight will provide you with the full legislative history of a legislative act. The legislative history includes links to PDF files of all of the applicable bills, reports, committee prints, references in the Congressional Record, and presidential signing statements.

Inclement Weather Policy

Whenever UGA closes for any emergency, such as inclement weather, the Law Library will close. On weekends, the official policy of UGA central administration is to permit individual units to decide whether to close for inclement weather or other emergency situations. The Director of the Law Library, in consultation with the Dean of the Law School, decides whether to close the Law Library in such circumstances.

App of the Week!

Each week this semester, the Law Library will provide an information card about a legal or productivity app.

Look for the display at Circulation and take one of the handy cards containing a nutshell description of the app.
